Code Word: Salacious! Women’s Fashion Trends for 2010

If you’re like me, then keeping up with the latest fashions go hand-in-hand with breathing.  As we approach a new decade, fashion is experiencing a different landscape that is heavily influenced by pop culture.  This means a more sexed-up, salacious viewing for all the bad boys who love to see women push the edge of implied nudity like some of your favorite stars -- Rihanna, Kim Kardashian, Beyonce and Ciara.   With that said, I declared my weight loss goals and am determined to look as hot in lace and shorts as my competitors.

Speaking of shorts, on the menu for this Spring are shorter hemlines on your already short shorts.  Oh but there’s more -- throw in hot pants, boy shorts, and tap pants as the latest upcoming trend, and you‘ll need to tone more than just your legs.  ‘Tis the decade of the thigh!

To spice up the bare leg, the newest trend are the return of the knee high, over-the-knee, and thigh high socks.  Pair up your shorts with anything from sporty to bedazzled socks, or try layering them over tights.  It’s a fab way to show skin, without actually showing skin.

For the nightlife, mirco-minis are so last decade.  How to pull off the ultimate in sexy without reaching for the micro-mini? Add a long dress with a ultra-high split to your Spring wardrobe.  Versace and Lanvin explore the art of long gowns/dresses and high splits in their new collection, so yeah, it’s officially on the menu for this year.

We can all thank Beyonce for this one -- the rise of the one-piece bodysuits.  Women (and some men) had reached for their leotards when doing their best YouTube rendition of “Single Ladies,“ and now this outfit has become a full-fledge new development, yet albeit slightly altered.  Along with the rise of bodysuits came the rise of all things one-piece such as jumpsuits, playsuits, and rompers.

Yet Beyonce isn’t the only one guilty of influencing the new decade’s fashion trends.  As Rihanna’s star continues to rise, so do the eyebrows of her audience as she rocks the hottest leather, lace, and sheer outfits.  So ladies, get ready to [sort-of] bare it all this Spring and Summer.  You can chose to go with a more whimsical style or take the Rihanna approach and go all out dominatrix.

Other prominent fashion designers are also weighing in on the surge of recent trends and how this effects women’s sexual power.

“Overall, I notice that sex appeal and edginess are the biggest themes this year,” says Johnny Jailall, COO of Surajo Bello, Inc., a personalized luxury goods company.based in New York.  “The hot pants, the high dress splits, and the see-through outfits play up on the female’s sex appeal by revealing more skin in particularly seductive areas.  This is the decade of women taking control of their sexual forwardness, and I must say it‘s inspiring.”

You may have the perfect outfits mapped out for the new year, but with the change of fashion also comes the change in fragrance.  Surajo Bello, Inc. presents a new fragrance to compliment the flirty and sexy styles of 2010, called “Black Martini,” which was released via their website on January 1st.

“We feel that Black Martini encompasses in a fragrance what outfits you will see this year on the mannequins,” says Jailall.  “It’s very sexy, fun, and feminine.  It goes perfect with any outfit this year.”
